We sell 416 in a variety of forms: rod, bar, and plate.

416 is a martensitic free machining grade stainless steel. It is treated with hot working, a process that gives it elevated strength and hardness. It’s machinability of 85% makes it the highest of all stainless steel.

416 stainless steel is used in a wide variety of productions, from machine components to household items. A few of 416’s uses include:

  • Valve components
  • Screw machine parts
  • Electrical motors
  • Nuts and bolts
  • Washing machine components
  • Cutlery and kitchen utensils

416 stainless steel’s martensitic status makes it less resistant to corrosion than austenitic steels, but its ready machinability and variety of uses make it a widely used metal.
